Day Excursions
Book in our office, or ring and pay with your debit card, at no extra charge
All excursions are pick up & set down on main roads close to your home as practical within our normal area. All pick ups & drop offs are normally completed within 1 hour subject to traffic conditions. Some pick ups are by a feeder vehicle, and where the route allows passengers will be first on first off basis. The base time is at Golborne, so some times will be before this time and some will be after depending on the destination.

Today we take a scenic drive through the Lune Valley arriving at Kendal around 11am we spend time here over lunch. You can stroll by the River Kent or take a look in The Parish Church, visit the Newish K village, or hunt out a bargain on the market. at 2.oclock we go on to Morecambe we set you down at the sea front, were you can take a leisurely walk on the prom, with superb views of the Cumbrian hills and mountains, or the shops and market, we depart for home at 5pm.

Our journey starts by heading over Kinder Scout with great views all the way to Ladybower Reservoir, from here we travel on to the attractive town of Bakewell stopping here for lunch and time to explore the market, in the afternoon we follow the Wye Valley to The Spa town of Buxton, with its Crescent and St Annes Well, bring your bottle for some free water everyone else does, the town has many period building and many good shops. We depart for home at 5pm. |

Something different Today, we head north to Preston where we join the old A6 road passing Garstang, Lancaster and Milnthorpe, and then on to the quaint d English village of Cartmel, with its attractive square Priory and Racecourse, Today is Cartmel Food Market, which will show you many local traditional food products and there producers, tastings are available on some stalls. On arrivial we have included a Carriage Ride, you will go in groups of 6 and be driven around this beautiful village for about 20 minutes, This superb all weather carriage will be drawn by a pair of Black Friesian Horses, and will normally be driven by the Rynardt & Tracey Venter who travel the country showing their fine Friesians, with long manes and flowing tails, For those who fancy a little extra fun, bring your royal gloves & hats, we will offer a prize for what we think is the best Hat Ladies or Gents, During the time we are in Cartmel you will have time to explore the village and we have also included a light lunch of soup and sandwich at The Cavendish Arms In the Village, Mid afternoon we leave the village and head down into Grange where you can just sit and relax for about an hour, or maybe a stroll through the attractive gardens we depart for home at 5pm.

A great day full of entertainment with The village street transformed to the 1940 era, Vintage Bands & singers, vintage vehicles and many wartime vehicles and memorabilia on show, remember the 'Spivs', people dressed in authentic 1940s dress, a service of remembrance in the church, many re-enactment groups, and of course the Steam railway, as in past years there will be a vintage aircraft flypast subject to the weather at the aircrafts base. Return starts at 5pm.

Saturday 2nd June 0830 WELL DRESSING IN DERBYSHIRE

The tradition of Well dressing could date from the 1300s when villagers dressed wells with wooden trays and petals to say thank you for keeping the water pure and free from disease, many towns let the tradition die until the mid 1800s. Today many volunteers keep the art going, it is fantastic to see these wonderful pictures made from the flower petals. We start with a short toilet stop in Buxton, before heading into the National Park and the small village of Monyash there are normally 3 or 4 wells dressed here, and the church often has a big display, after about an hour we head on to Bakewell where you will be able to find some lunch, afterwards we travel the short distance to Ashford in the Water where there are 6 wells about the village, we allow time to visit them all, we then head back to Buxton for a little time to explore, returning for home at 5pm.

Today we journey through the pretty Cheshire and Shropshire countryside to The historic town of Oswestry, as well as the interesting town to explore it is market day, the market claims to date to the 1300s,we have 2 hours to explore before departing to Trevor, here we will have a selection of sandwiches and a tea or coffee for you, Just before 1pm we board the Narrow Boat 'Eirleys' for our peaceful sail over The Pontcysyllte aqueduct built by Thomas Telford & William Jessop, and opened to traffic 1805 and in 2006 was made a World Heritage Site, after our sail we head to Llangollen for time to look about this pretty town with its steam trains & barges, we set off for home at 4.30.

An extended day of wonderful scenery with mountains and coastlines and the best of The Little Trains of Wales, we journey along the motorway during which our hostess will serve you tea or coffee & biscuits, as we head into the very pretty Vale of Llangollen where we have a short stop for toilets, from here we follow the old stage coach route along the A5, then we make our way through little Switzerland passing Englands 7th Longest railway tunnel and the slate mines before we arrive at Blaenau Ffestiniog, we have a break here before boarding the 1150 steam hauled train to the pretty coastal town of Porthmadoc here there is time for lunch & shopping or sightseening, After lunch we follow the coast to Criccieth before travelling along the edge of The Snowdonia Nation Park to Caernarvon, then following The Menai Straits and the coast road to start our homeward journey with suitable short stop arriving back in our area about 7.30.

We depart for home at 4 .45pm.

Today we head south along the motorway to the attractive town of Bewdley set on the River Severn on the Shropshire /Worcester border, here we have time to explore and maybe have an early lunch, or bring your own packed lunch for the train ride. At 1200 we transfer to the railway station where you will have a little time to explore before boarding the 1pm steam train to Bridgnorth, the train travels through the pretty Severn Valley following the river, on arrival the coach will be waiting to transfer you into the town centre, its market day today, if you don't want the market try the castle, leaning at a greater angle than The leaning tower Pisa, or maybe try a ride on the Cliff railway to Low Town and the River, at 4.45 the coach will come back to the town centre to collect you for our return journey.
For enthusiasts wishing to visit the Engine House at Highley we can arrange for you to break the journey and rejoin a later train at extra cost.

We travel through North Wales and cross to the Island via the Britannia Bridge, following the road to the Pringles mill at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, where we have a coffee stop, from here we follow the old road through the villages to Holy Island and Holyhead and climb the narrow road to the South Stack, a chance for lunch here, after we journey on via Cemes Bay, Amloch, Red Wharf Bay, with superb scenery to our last stop at Beaumaris, sat at the top of The Menai straits, from here we set off for home along the coast via Conway and the A55.
