| Dumfries & Galloway is a huge pretty area of South West Scotland with
beautiful scenery at every turn. This weekend we have several visits
included in the tour which we are sure you will enjoy. |
Day 1
We head north to the border
stopping for a visit at Gretna.
After lunch we travel along
Solway coast stopping at
places of interest along the way.
When we reach the River Nith
we turn inland and head towards
Dumfries and the Cairndale
Hotel. Time to relax or take a
swim before dinner.
Day 2
We visit one of Scotland's
newest treasures, Dumfries
House. In 2004 its fine collection
of furniture was going to be
broken up and sold. Several
attempts to save the property
came to nothing. On 27 June
2007 it was announced that
a consortium, led by HRH
The Prince of Wales, including
various heritage charities and the Scottish Government, had
raised #45 million to purchase
the house and contents. Today
we visit this treasure which is
about 55mins drive from the
Cairndale Hotel.

Day 3
After a hearty Scottish breakfast
we head north again to the
Home of the Duke and Duchess
of Buccleuch and Queensbury,
a large estate just half an hour
north of Dumfries. There is much
to see and do here, we stay till
about 2.30 and then head home
arriving in the early evening. |

The Cairndale Hotel is an attractive 3 star AA red sandstone
building standing in the centre of Dumfries only 5 mins walk from
the River Nith. The property has full leisure facilities and makes a
excellent base for our weekend.
Price Includes: 3 days/2 nights Dinner, Bed & Breakfast at the
Cairndale hotel with use of leisure facilities. Entrance to Dumfries
House and Drumlanrig Castle. Luxury coach travel, services of our
experienced tour driver. Door to door pick ups.
