6th May 6 days Half Board £325
26th August 6 days Half Board £395 |
| Dunoon is the largest town in Argyll. It's built around two bays between
which is the site of the former Dunoon castle. There's an excellent view
of the town from here. Your visit will be memorable as the scenery really
is unparalleled in these parts. Oh yes, and we always find the people so
friendly. Take a stroll, as the locals do, through the Botanic Gardens or
the Victorian town centre. You'll be tempted, we know, by the tea rooms
and shops. But don't worry - you're on holiday! |
Day 1
We head north into Ayrshire and
later take in the fi ne views over
The Firth of Cylde as we head
for the ferry near Greenock.
We cross the Firth by ferry and
then we drive along the coast
to Dunoon and the Esplanade
Hotel.
Day 2
Our excursion today takes
us to The Kyle's of Bute with
spectacular views and quiet
and quaint villages. We will
have some excellent photo
opportunities.
Day 3
Today we start by going over
the Rest & Be Thankful to
Loch Lomond, then on to the
village of Luss, voted Scotland's
most attractive village. We spend time here for lunch and
sightseeing, then continue via
Garelochead to Helensborough
and Dumbarton and then back
to Greenock for the ferry back to
Dunoon and the Esplanade.
|
Day 4
A morning drive to Toward with
good views of The Firth of Clyde.
We then return to Dunoon
before going over the hills to
Ardentinny and Kilmun Church,
then return via Holy Loch to
Dunoon.
Day 5
A day at leisure in Dunoon.
Day 6
Back on the ferry today to
cross the Firth before heading
south with suitable stops along
the way, arriving home late
afternoon. |

YOUR HOTEL - The Esplanade Hotel
Family owned since the days when the Glaswegians used to sail "doon
the watter" for their holidays, the hotel stands on the West Promenade
overlooking the sea. This is a traffic free area, just a short walk from the
shops and town centre. We confess that this hotel has long been one
of our real favourites. Apart from its other virtues, we love to sit in the
lounge and savour the views of the Clyde!
