Kintyre, Argyll & Secret Isle of Gigha
28th June 5 days Half Board £339
The colourful fi shing village of Tarbert is well worth a visit. It is a yachtsman's paradise with a safe harbour and is a popular stopping off point for boats heading out to the west coast through the Crinan canal. A short walk above the village finds the ruined Tarbert Castle, seen as strategically important and so was rebuilt and extended. The drive from Tarbert to Campbeltown offers magnificent views of the islands of Gigha, Jura, Islay and even Northern Ireland on a clear day. South of Campbeltown is the road to Southend and to the Mull of Kintyre. The direct road is about 8 miles to Southend with a further 8 miles of single track road out to the lighthouse on 'the Mull'.
Day 1
A prompt start as we head into the borders and Moffat for our early lunch stop. From here we head to Inveray via the outskirts of Glasgow and Loch Lomond, the Rest and be Thankful, to The Gray Gull. Although it is Argyll here we are only 12 miles from the head of the Kintyre Peninsula. We settle in for a relaxing.

Day 2
A slower pace today as we travel out and follow the Crinan Canal to the coast at Crinan. The route is very scenic and narrow but when we reach Crinan there are great views to outer islands and the Isle Of Jura. We return by the same route to Cairnbaan and then head north to cross the bridge over the Atlantic Ocean to Isle of Seil and Easdale, famous for its slate quarries. Afterwards we return to Kilmartin and Ardrishaig.
Day 3
A prompt start today as we travel on Tayinloan for the 10am ferry to Gigha. On arrival we head to Achamore House which stands within what is perhaps Gigha's main attraction, the magnifi cent 50 acre Achamore Gardens. After our visit we head to Isle Gigha Hotel for a light lunch included in the tour price. We have time to explore this little bit of heaven before we return on the 3 O'clock ferry.

Day 4
Today we return to Kintyre and tour the whole peninsula, fi rst down the Atlantic coast to Campbeltown and The Mull, then we return along the Kilbranan Sound with great views of The Isle of Arran, passing Saddell Bay where the fi lming was done for the Mull of Kintyre. Afterwards we pass Carradale with its pretty harbour and join the single track road back to Kennacraig.

Day 5
A return journey with some fabulous views we start by joining the ferry across Loch Fyne and via the Kyles of Bute to Dunoon, then across the Firth of Cylde and the south through Ayrshire arriving home early evening.
