Viking raids were common to the area and left severe damage to Folkestone and the surrounding area, these continued to about the 10th Century, and even after Edward the Confessor became King. The town is one of the Cinque ports of the south coast and the old town has some very quaint narrow winding streets.
The Grand Burstin Hotel is superbly located by the seaside overlooking Folkestone’s attractive harbour and is an ideal base for which to take day trips to France or Belgium. The hotel has recently undergone a major re-decoration and refurbishment programme and many of the rooms have views across the channel. During our stay you will have nightly entertainment and free use of the leisure facilities. Plus a nightly 99p bar for 3 hrs.
Days excursions include: We visit Canterbury a lovely city with plenty to do, visit the Cathedral of museums or The Canterbury Tails. If there is enough interest we will take you to Dover Castle, there will be no charge for the Coach but you will have to pay the entrance charge. France & Belgium, we catch an early train on the shuttle, then on to Ostend, Please remember the time is one hour in front of us, we normally arrive in Ostend about 10.30 local time, we can help you find cheaper cigarettes and maybe some chocolates.
Included: 5 days/ 4 nights HB with 99p bar each evening, all ensuite rooms with tea facilities & TVs & telephone. Luxury Coach travel, services of experienced tour driver, door to door. Extras: small charge for leisure facilities. |
