| Llandrindrod Wells Welsh Railway Special |
 |
 |
| 26th July 5 days Half Board £355 |
| This part of mid Wales is well known for its attractive scenery, lakes,
reservoirs, birds of prey and of course its narrow gauge railways. On this
holiday we combine them all, along with our super hotel. |
Day 1
After our door to door pick ups
we journey down the A49 with
suitable stops en route. We
hopefully will take our lunch at the
old railway station at Welshpool.
From here we carry on to the
Metropole, allowing plenty of
time to settle in before dinner and
maybe take a swim in the hotel's
fantastic pool. After dinner the
evening is at leisure.
Day 2
Today we explore the Elan Valley
and the dams with a stop at the
visitor centre taking a circular
route through the valley and
return to Rhaydar. During the
excursion there are often sightings
of birds of prey, mainly Red Kites.
Should there be enough interest
and time we will make a visit
to the feeding station before
returning to the Metropole for
dinner and a relaxing evening.
|
Day 3
After a hearty breakfast we set
of to Welshpool and join the
Welshpool & Llanfair railway.
An interesting railway with
locomotives and rolling stock from
Hungary, Austria and Romania. We
take a return trip allowing time
to stroll by the river or visit the
shop at the terminus. On return to
Welshpool there will be some time
to explore the town.
Day 4
Another great breakfast and
today we depart for The Devils
Bridge and join the mid morning
departure to Aberystwyth. Here
you will have time for lunch and
explore the town before the coach
pick up at 3.00 for the journey
back to the Metropole.
Day 5
Sadly we leave the Metropole
and head north through some of
the border country with its fi ne
scenery. We spend some time in
Shrewsbury before arriving home.
